Eisenhower Square: how to put things right and why it boosts a person's energy
In the modern world, people have too many things to do and worry about, and their great diversity makes proper planning difficult. The technique described below will help you become more efficient.
It often happens that we have urgent but not very important things to do, or many important things that still need to be done. The inability to properly prioritize and solve problems according to these priorities causes us to waste our life energy. Instead of looking for ways to recharge your batteries, you can just enlist the help of Eisenhower Square.
What is Eisenhower Square?
The square, also known as the Eisenhower matrix, is an effective time management technique that will help you greatly improve your life and increase your work efficiency.
It was invented by Dwight Eisenhower – politician, general and president of the United States. The point is pretty simple. We have a table with four cells:

The upper cells contain things to dolower – not important. Top and bottom left urgent matterand the two on the right not urgent. It turns out we have four types of cases:
- important urgent;
- important not urgent;
- not important urgent;
- not important and not urgent.
On the first place important and urgent matters appear that you simply cannot help but solve. They appear there spontaneously and suddenly, so as little as possible should be left unfinished. If you always have a lot of such tasks, you have chosen the wrong path in life or you have big problems with goal setting. Beware of a large number of such tasks, as this can lead to a loss of energy.
On the second place Important but not urgent matters are displayed. You should always be remembered. Try not to have more than six or eight of these in that space. This includes recurring cases. Make sure you plan ahead as Eisenhower recommended. If you have a lot of such tasks, it’s good. That means using your time wisely. If there are no such tasks, your life is full of risks and needs to be rationalized.
Third square is the place of urgent and unimportant matters. It is best to solve such tasks in your free time, when you are not dealing with important matters. The second way to save energy is to delegate such things. For example, washing the dishes is an urgent matter, but not as important as writing a report, so it can be delegated to a child or significant other who is not working that day.
Not urgent and not important things are time killers. Remove them from the list of necessary ones as soon as possible. Appreciate your time and effort.
How Eisenhower Square boosts energy
By itself it doesn’t strengthen anything, but once you start following the tips outlined above, you’ll feel your life begin to change. All you need is honesty and objectivity. Try to honestly admit that you’re wasting time on the wrong things and in the wrong ways. After spending your energy properly, you will feel a surge of energy. Your biofield will become firmer and stronger.
The habit of planning things wrong can lead to big problems. It can be traced back to the list of habits that make a person a loser. Experts advise getting rid of them as soon as possible.
