School janitor from Ukraine became world champion in jiu-jitsu
Dreams shall come true! Kherson resident Igor Yevtushenko proved this by becoming the winner of the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship in the United Arab Emirates. The motivating story of the champion is told by OUR editorial team.
Yevtushenko took up jiu-jitsu a few years ago when he was forty-two years old and was looking for a way to keep his body in shape.
Previously, the man had twenty years of experience as a rescue diver. Then he had to spend a lot of energy on training and completing tasks, so there were no problems with being overweight, but after his service was eliminated, he quickly began to gain kilograms.

He tried to run and realized that he needed a systematic load that only sports can give.
He didn’t even think about game types because after forty it’s hard to start in them. In addition, the man not only wanted to study, but also set ambitious goals and achieve them. From the very beginning of the class, he knew that he wanted to compete and be sure of becoming a champion at the highest level.
He made sports his main occupation – he rented a small basement in Kherson and began to train himself and train beginners. At the same time, he works as a janitor in one of the city schools, the management agreed to a meeting and postponed the work schedule so that Igor could not get out of the training schedule. Now his club has its own regular admirers, different people train here, they heard about Igor from the words of friends.
Igor Yevtushenko consistently went to his main honors for seven years, winning the championships of Ukraine and Europe at the beginning.
In order to prepare himself properly, he turned to the recognized masters of Jiu-Jitsu in Ukraine for help. The future winner fought with the masters and coaches of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu of Ukraine. B1 Promotion helped him in many ways, they organized the conditions for intensive training and provided equipment.
But in order to travel to the United Arab Emirates, Yevtushenko had to find sponsors, because the budget for the trip was about seven hundred dollars. His friend suggested posting online. They told the story of Igor as a master of sports and indicated the purpose for which they are raising money. To the amazement of the athlete, it was possible to collect the amount in a couple of days.
Yevtushenko won the Azerbaijani Azad Jafarzadeh in the category up to 69 kilograms. And now on his feed, the last post calling for sponsors, there are photos of him with a gold championship medal.
