At first everything was against her. Romina was born in Hollywood in a family of actors. And since childhood she experienced all the attributes of a star life: the attention of journalists, photos on the covers.

When Romina announced that she was marrying Albano Carrisi, her mother broke into a terrible tirade: A farmer’s son, a small, nondescript man with glasses, what did you find in him?! She didn’t care that Al Bano was already a famous singer. They said that he even had to pay his mother-in-law a considerable amount to keep the marriage going. But after all, Al Bano’s parents were not pleased with the choice of their son: well, what a wife and mother of a spoiled girl?

Union seemed perfect and eternal

Despite this, Carrisi and Power got married. After 5 years, already with two children, the couple created a musical duet. And soon conquered the world. They won several prizes at the Italian singing competition in San Remo. With the composition “Ci Sara” they became the first. The song “Liberta” was recognized in Italy as the country’s unofficial anthem.

Her popularity skyrocketed. Including in the Soviet Union. The couple showed feelings on stage, but they weren’t flashy. Albano and Romina were really excited. The union seemed perfect and eternal. Their names are merged. And it was difficult to imagine the singers individually.

They had everything one could wish for: fame, money, magazine covers and interviews, a large estate in Puglia with an impressive staff of servants. In the late 1980s, the couple decided to have two more children. Although it was difficult for Romina. She did not stop singing and touring. She was also a good wife and mother. She supported her husband in everything. One thing worried Romina: although she was constantly touring, she still devoted less time to her children than she could.

The search lasted 19 years

Everything collapsed overnight. In January 1994, the life of the spouses was divided into before and after. Their bliss immediately collapsed when they learned that their eldest daughter, Ilenia, had left the New Orleans hotel and had not returned. According to various sources, she went to America for an alternative youth festival or to collect material for a book. The couple put all their energies into the search. From cops to psychics, from the Sicilian mafia to Interpol. But months, years, speculation and rumors surfaced. They said that Ilenia got in touch with a certain guru, was a drug addict, jumped into the Mississippi… Still, not even her body could be found.

A few years later, Al Bano admitted to reporters that he didn’t believe his daughter was still alive. He has come to terms with her loss. And that caused Romina’s terrible rage. “You betrayed our daughter!” she was outraged. And she hastened to divorce her husband. The musical duo broke up.

Romin had no face. She grew old and fell into a terrible depression. Then she started yoga, started traveling to India. The end of the search was officially announced in 2013, but Power has not calmed down yet. And how could it be otherwise when a mother loses a child?

Al Bano began a solo career, growing grapes, producing wine and olive oil. Romina began to write screenplays, shoot documentaries, paint pictures. And then she went completely to her homeland, to America. A place where she wasn’t perceived as Al Bano’s wife. And where journalists did not ask painful questions about the missing daughter.

In 2013, Romina agreed to Al Bano’s offer to perform with him in Russia in honor of his 70th birthday. Former spouses again looked at each other with loving eyes. But it was a very different love. Or not love at all…
