A cat with kittens was abandoned in a carrier on the side of the road. Good neighbors didn't come by...
The cat welcomes help for herself and the kittens after the owners dumped them in the roadside carrier and drove them away.

Helen Richter, a caregiver in Las Vegas, learned about the mother cat and her litter of six kittens that were found in the neighborhood.
Neighbors found two carriers, one containing a cat with kittens and the other containing two adult cats, likely the mother cat’s brothers.
Their owners have moved and left their pets on the side of the road.
“Luckily, the neighbors picked her up for the night and called anyone who could help,” says Helen.

“One of my friends saw the post and was able to coordinate the mother cat and kittens to get her to safety and enlisted animal rights activists as sponsors.”
Another animal welfare organization took over the rescue of adult cats – they were vaccinated, neutered and put on the adoption list.

Last weekend, Valentina and her kittens were taken into Helen’s care – so the cat has a comfortable place to raise her children and lots of delicious food.
Valentina was overwhelmed by everything she had experienced and the first night she stayed in the nest with her children. Finally she could relax and sleep.

She stretched and fell asleep deeply. I didn’t raise my hand to shift her, so I just sat down on the floor next to her and spoke to her quietly — she said not to worry anymore,” says Helen.
“I think she finally realized that at home, where you can’t be afraid.”

Valentina was grateful for the comfortable nest, the soft bedspreads and the bottomless buffet. She got used to it quickly and since she started purring in the morning she didn’t stop until evening.
A loving mother is very kind to kittens and will meet all of their needs.

She is happy about the help of the nanny, already accepts her caresses and gets down on her knees. Whenever she needs a break, the cat comes to Helen to spend time with her.
“I’m still amazed at her kindness considering what happened to her over the past two days,” says Helen.

Kittens begin to open their eyes and see for the first time. Strength and curiosity awaken in them, babies become more active, crawl, try to get up.
Valentina keeps an eye on the children and makes sure they don’t crawl far away.

Valentina is happy that her family has a roof over their heads and that there are carers to help and take care of them. She happily paws at the blanket while her kittens stand up and happily sip milk.

“When I lay down on the floor next to me, she wants to be closer to me, she longs to be petted,” says Helen. “I tell her how beautiful she is and that we will find her owners who will love and cherish her.”
